My favorite workouts in CrossFit are Hero workouts. I love the meaning behind them and honoring our heroes. My favorite Hero workouts are Murph and Chad.
CrossFit Level 1 Certification
Growing up in a military family I had the opportunity to travel all over the country and meet people that have become family and see amazing things. With moving around a lot, it made participating in sports a little more difficult, but my parents always made sure I had the resources to stay active, of all the sports I tried I fell in love with gymnastics and competed competitively for several years. After high school, I slowly started getting into working more and doing less and started gaining weight and slipping into an unhealthy pattern. In approximately 2004 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and things were out of control. Like many others I tried every diet out there, I joined gyms just to never show up and eventually quit. In 2019 I found this little gym (not so little anymore) tucked away on a ranch in the middle of Decatur and it's just what I needed. The journey from walking in the door to becoming a coach was not easy and differently had some ups and downs, but I have learned so much from both.
In 2004 I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes; I was a little overweight but felt pretty good and could not understand how this could be. After about 10 years of being in denial, I decided I needed to do something to get this under control. With that being said, I knew that diet and exercise needed to work together, I joined gyms and tried almost every diet with no success and had pretty much given up. In early 2019 my doctor had a serious conversation with me about the long-term effects of diabetes on my body and my life span. That led me to think outside the box, after talking with a coworker who was doing CrossFit, I decided to call Jill and Jason. I had all the normal misconceptions, I am too old, I am not fit enough, and this is for young athletes wanting to compete. Fast forward to today, my Diabetes has been under control for the past 5 years and I feel like I am in better shape than I was 20 years ago.
My motivation and passion are passing on the culture of Saddle Up to others in the way that they embraced me on my journey to better health and fitness. Helping others overcome their challenges and be successful in their own journey to a healthy lifestyle.
