My CrossFit journey began unexpectedly. Growing up, I was involved in competitive cheerleading and dance, but my absolute love was horseback riding, specifically Eventing. After getting married and starting a family, my priorities shifted, and I found myself gaining weight. In 2014, I discovered CrossFit as a way to get back in shape and was instantly hooked. Fast forward to today - I am now the co-owner of Saddle Up CrossFit with my husband Jason. I currently hold my Level 2 CrossFit Certification and have completed the certification course for CrossFit Gymnastics. In 2021 we became Nutrition Coaches through Healthy Steps Nutrition, which has allowed us to provide our members with even more tools and resources for achieving their health goals. I am incredibly passionate about coaching and helping others become the best versions of themselves.
After having my first child, Graham, making time for myself was not a priority. I struggled with body image and was always wanting to lose weight. In 2012, 2 years after Graham was born, I discovered that I had two holes in my heart that required surgery. Fortunately, it was a relatively non-invasive procedure, but it still had a profound impact on my life. From not being able to walk across the room without feeling short of breath, to completing the most grueling CrossFit workout and feeling great - it was truly life-changing. I also went from being told I was on the verge of needing a heart transplant to “you are fixed now”. CrossFit has been the ultimate test for me, and achieving the goals I set for myself has been the most rewarding experience. Through dedication and hard work, I have not only accomplished weight loss but have also gained strength both physically and mentally. I believe that everyone deserves a turning point in their lives like mine. If you are looking for a way to transform your body and mind, then CrossFit might be just what you need.
I have a passion for teaching and learning new things, especially when it comes to nutrition. As a nurse with experience in ER, and ICU, and as an educator and health coach, I have seen firsthand the impact that nutrition can have on overall health and well-being. Since being mentored by Healthy Steps Nutrition (HSN) in 2021, we have been able to bring their education to our affiliates and members. Going through the training and certification process ignited a new passion for nutrition and how we can further impact our members through Nutrition, Fitness, and Accountability. In the summer of 2022, I was hired on as a staff member at HSN where I am helping coach future nutrition coaches and supporting mentoring staff as well. This opportunity has allowed me to quit my job as a nurse so that I can dedicate more time to growing and expanding Saddle Up CrossFit and our nutrition program. Helping people become their best version of themselves is something I am deeply committed to, especially when it comes to their health. With this in mind, I am excited about the opportunity to impact more people through our nutrition program.
